The showdown between Clinton and Trump toppled the previous debate viewership record set during the 1980 contest between Jimmy Carter and Ronald Reagan.
The poll also broke down each candidate’s support by geography, which showed Clinton with an advantage over Trump in the southeast portion of the state, where she leads 58% to 29%.
He insisted he had “no sniffles” and no allergies despite the #snifflegate speculation that had exploded on social media, and he suggested he had been given a microphone with lower volume than Mrs Clinton’s. “And you know, I do have this old-fashioned idea that if I’m asking for your vote, I should tell you what I want to do”, she said.
If the debate did anything, Horowitz predicted it would strengthen current voters’ opinions.
-VOTERS WERE RIVETED. 72% of likely voters watched the debate, and 55% of those viewers watched the whole 95-minute affair.
Sutton and Horowitz did grade moderator Lester Holt’s performance.
“Hillary Clinton bullied and smeared women like Paula Jones, Gennifer Flowers and Monica Lewinsky”, reads another. “And he really, I think, unsettled my opponent”.
Horowitz also said that another significant election moment is fast approaching: the first episode of Saturday Night Live on October 1. “When she hit me at the end with the women, I was going to hit her with her husband’s women, and I decided I shouldn’t do it because [her] daughter was in the room”. “I think she just expected she would power through it as she has always powered through everything”, she said.
Horowitz and Sutton both said they are nonpartisan in their work.
