Prescott leads Cowboys over Bengals

The Cowboys are visiting the Packers for the third straight season, starting with a loss in the divisional round of the playoffs in 2014. They would tell the world just how good the Cowboys really were.

Don’t expect it to get better from here.

Offensively, rookies, in both quarterback Dak Prescott and running back Ezekiel Elliott, once again were impressive and led the Cowboys charge.

On the offense, Cincinnati is averaging 19.5 point sand 371.8 yards per game. That included one for Elliott’s fellow rookie, quarterback Dak Prescott.

In addition to his 60-yard touchdown run, when he sprinted untouched through the middle of the Cincinnati defense on Dallas’ first snap of the second half, Elliott added a 13-yard touchdown for the game’s first score.

But that winning percentage slipped below.900 when Dalton recorded a 104.6 rating against the Cowboys by completing 29 of 41 passes for 269 yards and two touchdowns with no interceptions. Smith had missed just one game in the first five seasons of his career before his back tightened up late in the week before the third game against Chicago. “If we end the way we started previous year, then this doesn’t really mean that much”. He threw a 14-yard touchdown pass to Cole Beasley with 4:09 left in the second quarter to give the Cowboys a 21-0 lead. But the protection of Dalton was a problem.

For his last three games, he’s totaled 412 yards as he ran for over 130 in each of those contests.

Dallas coach Jason Garrett wouldn’t bite when asked about a looming decision on his starter. “I left my guys hanging on two plays and they turned into touchdowns”.

Prescott extended his National Football League record to start a career without a pick to 155 attempts. He had his first turnover on a lost fumble, but he helped guarantee a winning record for Dallas going into the October 30 game against Philadelphia. The Cowboys visit Green Bay (3-1) on Sunday before their bye week.

As the surprising Dallas newcomer prepares for the visiting Bengals in a homecoming of sorts for Dalton on Sunday, Prescott understands better every week what the former TCU quarterback means when he says “teams are trying to take your stuff away”.

“You watch that film from week one and you watch me now it looks like two different backs”, Elliott said after the game.

Here is his post-game press conference. And after a 28-14 beat-down, the Dallas Cowboys can safely say they are legitimately good. They didn’t allow 100 yards of rushing either.

That is the approach Dallas Cowboys owner/general manager Jerry Jones took after another strong performance by rookie Dak Prescott in place of injured franchise quarterback Tony Romo.
