The craze appears to have been inspired by clown-related pranks in the U.S. and has seen a string of copycat incidents across the United Kingdom recently. On Oct. 3, a dorm at Merrimack College in North Andover was evacuated after a report of an armed clown on the campus that proved to be a hoax.
As the Halloween season grows near an odd phenomenon has been sweeping the nation in the form of scary-looking clowns lurking around cities and towns.
Last Friday children, aged between 11 and 12, were shocked by a man dressed as a clown as they walked to The Hermitage Academy in Chester-Le-Street.
There have been upwards of 5 reported sightings of people dressed up as clowns in different parts of Swindon over the past week. Reports came from the victims of the prank who were frightened by these killer clowns.
So far, this is not the case: violence by clowns has not actually been substantiated yet in the U.S. Stories of clowns with weapons chasing people have been purely anecdotal. Some individuals brought up the fact that some states are trying to implement bans on clown masks until early 2017.
It takes her an hour and a half to get her make up on for her role and all her costumes, including her big rubber shoes are genuine clown costume.
But she said they did feel anxious. In St. Anthony, the police department said it has not received any complaints about menacing jesters.
“These are two of our fastest-rising searches. usually we see 10-50 searches per week, tops”.
Under the title,”Let’s have a serious talk about clowns“, the police say, “We have answered over 40 questions on FB and a few dozen calls at our dispatch center about clowns today”. We have not had any reports. He said it’s just now we live in a different world with social media. “Prior to that I read about it a couple weeks ago”. Sure, under normal circumstances, they’re are all about fun and eliciting laughs, but names like Pierrot and Grimaldi, who both lived dark, tortured personal lives, harken back to the dark history of clowning. “Prior to that we hadn’t had any issues or concerns from our administrators”.
Three schools across Northern Ireland were reported to have gone into lockdown in recent days due to the threat of the clowns.
“None of the principals have let me know”.
Bad clowns need their rags, natch, and it seems not all bad clowns want to pay for them.
That comes on the heels of another clown sighting at approximately 8:38 p.m. on October 6th. “Now I’m terrified of even seeing one”, said undeclared freshman Maryam Malik.
