There’s been so much talk about the “hysteria” and over-reaction to Donald Trump’s “locker-room banter”.
Ryan flagged spiraling health care costs and insurer desertions associated with the Affordable Care Act, and cutbacks in military resources, as among several issues republicans have plans to address if elected in November. It was a sharp contrast to Saturday, when Ryan was heckled at a Republican rally in his district after he canceled Trump’s appearance at the event. The move angered some Trump supporters, although Ryan said he would not withdraw his endorsement of the NY businessman.
“The very foul mouthed Senator John McCain begged for my support during his primary… he easily wins his primary and then all of a sudden he does the unendorsement thing…he’s never heard salty language before”.
“I really find it nearly unimaginable that someone could stand and just tell falsehood after falsehood”, Clinton told reporters who asked what had surprised her about the brutal night in St Louis.
Allison Ellis, 30, deemed Ryan “a traitor” and shrugged off Trump’s sexually aggressive comments in the 2005 video. “Those focused on protecting the House Majority recognize that in order to enable an agenda, you first need to win”.
Ryan is expected to seek re-election as speaker if Republicans retain the majority and may run for president in 2020, and in each case needs conservative support. An hour later, he tweeted, “Our very weak and ineffective leader, Paul Ryan, had a bad conference call where his members went wild at his disloyalty”.
The exercise in GOP self-preservation prompted, ostensibly, by the leaked recording of Donald Trump’s lewd remarks was necessary and a long time coming. One said Ryan told Republicans to do what “you think is right personally, and what you need to do politically”.
He also complained about getting no credit from party leaders for his Sunday night debate performance.
Podesta, while acknowledging the evidence was circumstantial, said the alleged ties could be driven either by Trump’s policy positions, which at times echo the Kremlin, or the Republican’s “deep engagement and ties with Russian interests in his business affairs”.
Anyway, Trump’s campaign didn’t seem to mind the diss.
The approach has done little to endear Trump to anxious party leaders.
Trump had clashed with the Arizona senator previous year when he said McCain, a decorated veteran was not a war hero because he was captured and imprisoned during the Vietnam War.
Trump’s campaign has long had a no holds barred quality but the break with the Republican establishment signals the start of an even more vitriolic campaign. That is, in large part, what gave us a Donald Trump nomination.
But Trump’s attacks on Ryan excite members of his base, many of whom dislike the GOP perhaps more than they do Clinton.
Republicans say that the potential for depressed turnout is one of the most concerning potential impacts of the tape.
We’d love for Ryan to point to something – anything – over the last six years of “Republican” rule in the U.S. House that didn’t involve the GOP giving a blank check to president Barack Obama. Indiana Gov. Mike Pence is Trump’s running mate.
Trump, 70, who has portrayed himself as tough on national security, released a hard-hitting television advertisement yesterday featuring footage of Clinton, a 68-year-old former secretary of state, stumbling last month after leaving a service commemorating the September 11 attacks.
Bridenstine is a conservative and a member of the House Freedom Caucus, which often bucks leadership. Some are rejecting Trump because of revulsion at his remarks among more moderate voters. Over the weekend, his office remained largely quiet about how he would respond to the explosive reports about Trump’s past behavior.
Trump immediately fired back at Ryan on Twitter.
But another star of the GOP, Florida Sen.
Byrne said he reached the conclusion to denounce Trump after prayer and reflection during a retreat in North Carolina, not due to political pressure among his peers in Congress. While her Tucson-area district is around one-fourth Hispanic, Republicans have considered her a star of the outgoing Congress’ freshman class and the $6.1 million she’s reported raising is almost seven times what her Democratic challenger has collected. That same poll showed Johnson’s Senate race with Democrat Russ Feingold to be about even. The group’s efforts have been bolstered by Mason Fink, a top Ryan ally who served as national finance director for Mitt Romney’s two presidential campaigns and is now on the super PAC’s board.
There are now 246 House Republicans, plus a vacant seat they seem likely to retain.
But her aides caution against excessive optimism. In that instance, a lower turnout could create an advantage for Trump. “They come at you from all sides”, said Trump on Twitter on Tuesday, Xinhua news agency reported. “I would think that maybe Ryan wouldn’t be there, maybe he’ll be in a different position”. Her campaign said she had been diagnosed a few days earlier with pneumonia. “And we can not be complacent, we can not rest”.
